About me

I’m Sharon Nugent, a 29-year-old self-taught Colombian artist. Throughout my life, I’ve felt a deep need for creative expression, always in search of beauty, whether through art or words. I come from four generations of artists, though most pursued more conventional paths. I chose to follow what I love.

Working primarily in watercolor and ink, my practice is rooted in lyrical abstraction and guided by an automatist process. Art made me feel alive again after spending a few years in survival mode following the loss of my mother and brother in my early twenties.

In addition to my personal practice, I’ve worked behind the scenes in the art world, assisting with exhibitions at Fundación ArtNexus in Bogotá, including shows by Beatriz González and Darío Escobar. In 2025, I participated in a collective exhibition in Tel Aviv.

My work is deeply personal, and I hope it also creates space for emotional response and reflection. It reflects life’s inevitables: its weight and its moments of quiet lightness.
